The Kölsch style originated in Cologne, Germany, as a response to the growing popularity of lager beers in the late 19th century. Brewers developed a hybrid beer using ale yeast but conditioning it like a lager, resulting in a clean, crisp taste. The specific term "Kölsch" for this style emerged in the early 1900s, and its status was solidified by the 1985 Kölsch Konvention, which protected the name and defined that only beer brewed within 31 miles of Cologne could legally be called Kölsch.
Our Kolsch Wheels are a nod to the traditional way that Kolsch is served. You'll still be able to order it by the pint, but this is way more fun!
